an eye for color

About Andrew

With a focus on abstract landscapes and architectural interiors, my art is deeply influenced by the vibrant colors and layered atmospheres of Northern California. Many of my landscapes explore what I call an “invented color space”—a place where hue and shape work together to suggest depth and emotion rather than describe them literally. The result is imagery that feels familiar yet dreamlike, inviting viewers to bring their own interpretation to the scene.

As a child, I celebrated coloring outside the lines. Those loose, imperfect marks still define my gestural painting style today. If painting were a religion, I’d be praying to the saints: Matisse, Diebenkorn, and Hockney—artists who understood that color could express far more than realism ever could.

My limited-edition prints are a natural extension of my studio practice. As a longtime admirer of artists’ works on paper, I’ve always wanted to offer pieces that capture the essence of my paintings in a format that’s both accessible and versatile. Each print is produced with museum-quality materials and faithful color reproduction, designed to bring a sense of atmosphere and joy into any space. With multiple size options, they can live comfortably in a range of environments—from intimate home offices to expansive modern interiors—making it easy for collectors to experience my work in a new way.

My Unique Process for Works on Paper

Paint strokes and pastels are made using ArtRage software and a computer stylus with output to paper that is almost indistinguishable from hand painted work.

My prints are not reproductions of my original paintings. They are digitally painted originals - richly produced in limited editions of 20 on high-quality archival watercolor paper. Each print is hand-numbered and signed.

Below are some demos to help understand the process. The still life painting of fruit below is a time-lapse video of me using ArtRage software and a computer stylus to paint the photo of fruit in the upper right corner. That final digital file is my “digital painting” that I can print (in limited editions) on high quality paper or canvas.
